Suria Praxis Business Consulting
Advisory benefits, Suria Praxis

Why Suria Praxis

What makes this advisory
different from most.

Most consulting firms are large, general-purpose, and measured by their output volume. Suria Praxis is small, sector-focused, and measured by whether the work was worth having.

Core Advantages

Six things principals consistently value.

Hospitality-only focus

We do not advise businesses outside hospitality and F&B. This narrow focus means every frame of reference we bring is from this sector.

Binding confidentiality

Every engagement is covered by a formal confidentiality undertaking from the first meeting. Nothing is disclosed without written consent.

Written over verbal

The deliverable is always a written document — one the principal can return to a year later. Not a presentation, not a verbal debrief.

Fixed fees, no surprises

Every engagement is quoted at a fixed price before work begins. There are no variable fees, no hourly rates, no additions for scope creep.

Senior-only delivery

There is no junior team. The principal or named associate conducts every visit and writes every deliverable.

Unfiltered findings

The advisory reflects what we observe. If something in the business is not working, we say so — clearly, without softening it beyond usefulness.

Expertise

Deep sector knowledge, not borrowed frameworks.

Much of what passes for hospitality consulting is the application of standard business analysis tools to a sector the consultant does not particularly know. Occupancy trends, F&B margin structures, staffing ratios and the dynamics of multi-concept groups in the Klang Valley are not generic knowledge — they are built up through years of direct involvement with businesses here.

The Suria Praxis team has that experience. We are not learning the sector on your engagement.

Direct hotel and F&B operations experience in the Klang Valley

Understanding of local labour cost structures and F&B margin patterns

Familiarity with multi-concept group management in the Malaysian market

Experience with family-held hospitality group succession dynamics

Defined scope and fee before any work begins

No expansion of scope without separate written agreement

Introductory conversation before commitment to any engagement

Written deliverable as the formal conclusion of each engagement

Process

Engagements with a clear beginning, middle and end.

Advisory relationships that drift — where the scope expands, the fees accumulate and the deliverable recedes — are a source of frustration for most principals. Every Suria Praxis engagement has a defined scope, a fixed fee and a specific written deliverable at the close.

The process is discussed and agreed before any commitment is made, and it does not change without the principal's written consent.

Service Quality

A direct relationship with the people doing the work.

In larger advisory firms, the person who makes the sale and the person who does the work are often different. The engagement begins with a partner conversation and is then delivered by analysts. Suria Praxis does not operate this way.

Every site visit, every structured conversation and every paragraph of the written deliverable is produced by the principal or the named engagement associate. There is no handoff.

Same person from first meeting to final document

No junior analysts conducting interviews on the firm's behalf

Direct access to the consultant throughout the engagement

Questions answered directly, not routed through account management

Fixed fees from RM 700 — known before engagement begins

No ongoing retainer unless a separate arrangement is agreed

No fee for the initial introductory conversation

Engagements priced according to the value of the work, not the size of the client

Pricing

Transparent fees for work of defined scope.

We publish the fees for each engagement on this website. There are no hidden costs, no success fees and no arrangements that make our interests and the client's interests diverge. The fee is for the engagement; the decisions remain with the client.

The initial conversation is always without obligation and without fee.

A Different Approach

Typical advisory versus Suria Praxis.

What to consider Typical advisory approach Suria Praxis
Sector focus Generalist — serves many industries Hospitality and F&B only
Who delivers the work Often junior analysts Principal or named senior associate
Fee structure Hourly or monthly retainer Fixed fee, known in advance
Deliverable format Slide deck and verbal debrief Written document, purposely brief
Confidentiality Often used in case studies Written undertaking, no disclosure
Scope management Scope tends to expand over time Fixed scope, agreed before start

Distinctive Features

What is particular to the way we work.

An introductory conversation without obligation

Before any engagement is proposed, we have a conversation of around thirty minutes. We listen to the situation, ask a few questions, and — if there is a clear fit — write a brief proposal. There is no charge for this conversation and no pressure to proceed.

Brief deliverables by design

The written documents we produce are intentionally short. A long advisory document is often a sign of uncertainty about what the principal actually needs to know. We work to produce the fewest pages that contain all the information worth having.

Engagements conducted at the principal's pace

We do not impose a schedule that suits the advisory firm's cash flow. Particularly in the Continuity Advisory, the pace is set by the principal — because that is the only pace at which the work will be useful.

Decisions remain with the client

The role of Suria Praxis is to offer a clear account of what we see and the questions worth considering further. The business decisions — including the most consequential ones — remain entirely with the principal. We do not implement; we advise.
