In their own words.
Ahmad Hakimi
General Manager, boutique hotel · Bangsar
"We had been running at a particular occupancy figure for about two years and accepted it as our ceiling. The Strategy Reading made clear it was a positioning issue, not a demand issue. The written summary was four pages but it raised questions we hadn't articulated before."
April 2025 · Strategy Reading
Lim Kar Wei
Principal, F&B group · Petaling Jaya
"I engaged Suria Praxis for the F&B Group Advisory when deciding what to do with our third concept. The analysis was candid — they identified the cost drag clearly and didn't dress it up. That clarity was helpful when I took the decision to the family."
March 2025 · F&B Group Advisory
Nur Rashidah
Owner-operator, café group · Mont Kiara
"I was slightly cautious about an external person coming through the operation, but the process was conducted with care. The report was useful — I acted on two of the three points it raised within the following six months."
February 2025 · Strategy Reading
Dato' Tan Beng Seng
Chairman, hotel group · Kuala Lumpur
"The Continuity Advisory was something I had been putting off for years. They laid out the realistic options clearly, including the one I found most difficult. The written framework made the conversations with lawyers far more efficient."
January 2025 · Continuity Advisory
Zainurul Amirah
Operations Director, F&B chain · Shah Alam
"The same person who spoke with us at the beginning was the one who came to the outlets and wrote the advisory. No handoff to a junior team. The fixed fee also made budgeting straightforward."
April 2025 · F&B Group Advisory
Priya Gopalan
Managing Director, boutique resort · Klang Valley
"The Strategy Reading was conducted over four weeks and the output was exactly as promised — brief and direct. I would have appreciated a longer staffing section, but the overall framing was accurate and the questions it surfaced were worth sitting with."

Case Studies
Three engagements in more detail.
Strategy Reading
A Bangsar boutique hotel reviewing its rate positioning
The Situation
An independently operated boutique hotel in Bangsar had maintained steady occupancy for two years but found its average daily rate had drifted below comparable properties in the corridor.
The Engagement
A single-day property visit, structured conversations with the GM and F&B manager, and a review of positioning materials. The written summary focused on three questions — rate strategy, channel mix, and the relationship between the restaurant and the room proposition.
After the Engagement
The hotel proceeded with a refurbishment brief that addressed the positioning question. Six months later it reported a meaningful improvement in ADR without a corresponding drop in occupancy. Suria Praxis was not involved in implementation.
"The value was in having someone outside ask the questions we had stopped asking ourselves."
F&B Group Advisory
An F&B group of five concepts rationalising its portfolio
The Situation
A Petaling Jaya-based F&B principal operating five concepts found that three years of expansion had produced a group in which two concepts were absorbing the margin generated by the others.
The Engagement
Site visits to four outlets, working sessions with the principal and operations head, and a cost-attribution review. The written advisory named the specific concepts carrying disproportionate costs and set out the options without recommending a particular course.
After the Engagement
The principal closed one concept and repositioned a second. Group margin improved materially in the following two quarters. The principal has since engaged Suria Praxis for an annual Strategy Reading of the remaining portfolio.
"The analysis was candid. They identified the cost drag clearly and didn't dress it up."
Continuity Advisory
A family-held hotel group preparing for generational transition
The Situation
The chairman of a family-held hotel group with three Klang Valley properties was approaching the question of succession. A private equity approach had also been received.
The Engagement
Monthly sessions over six months mapped three realistic paths — internal succession with minority buyout, a strategic operator partnership, and a full sale — and produced a written framework describing the practical implications of each.
After the Engagement
The chairman used the written framework in conversations with the family's lawyer and banker. The minority buyout path was selected. Suria Praxis was not involved in the transaction itself.
"The written framework made those conversations with lawyers far more efficient."
